Our founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Stephanie Douglas (Detroit, MI) has a special rationale for developing and directing the EPC Professional Basketball Combine. Douglas gave up her pursuit for the pros after playing NCAA division 1 basketball for the University of Michigan (2002), Temple University (2003-2004) and Ball State (2005-2007)- where she graduated in 2007. Her dream to play professional basketball became a nightmare following a chaotic college career (capped by multiple transfers and limited playing time). She had no viable stats or film to prove her ability against other pros. Agents would not sign her and coaches would not take a chance, but that didn’t stop her from fulfilling her dreams to play professional basketball.
Initially, she put her dream on pause and spent 4 years as a collegiate basketball coach at the University of Detroit Mercy (NCAA Division 1) and Adrian College (NCAA Division 3), but that pause was short-lived. While coaching players to reach their maximum potential as athletes, she did the same. Day and night, Douglas spent 4-5 years as a coach, a “pro athlete” in training, and student- as she was a coach and a grad student at the University of Detroit-Mercy, where she eventually earned a Masters in Athletic Administration.
Despite not being a player sought after by pro agents and coaches, Douglas decided to put her pro ability on display by signing up for a professional basketball combine in Germany. At the combine, she was able to sign with an agent, build her contacts and network with overseas teams, and gain up to date pictures and film for marketing purposes. By making the decision to attend the combine, she landed a contract to play in Europe (Germany and Spain). Additionally, when the World’s Famous Harlem Globetrotter’s signed her to become a female dribbler is when she realized that her dream to play professional basketball was no longer
a dream, but a reality.
After living her dreams, Douglas is now on a mission to help others live to see theirs! By hosting a series of professional basketball combines and camps throughout the USA, she wishes to inspire players with aspirations of playing professionally. She aims to show players that they are in control of their own professional basketball career. All it takes is being in the right place, at the right time, with the right people, and a willingness to CONNECT.
Douglas now works as an independent player scout for Promo Sport. She works directly with representatives of overseas teams and agencies in several countries with one common detail being that integrity is chosen with all business partners. She prides herself on developing relationships with players, GM's, agents, coaches, and team owners using principles of integrity, honesty, transparency and love.
Douglas is also the Basketball Commissioner and Athletic Director of Geek Modo city-wide youth basketball program, which is designed to give inner city kids in her hometown (Detroit) the opportunity to develop a love for fitness/nutrition, better their basketball skills, and engage in character building activities.
